    Believing versus Knowing
    Believing versus Knowing

The accompanying photo of camels in the desert, which are the small white parts, are easily overlooked in favour of the more obvious shadows. So too with believing and knowing. Beliefs throw long shadows. There is a difference between believing and knowing and I find it is one that most people overlook or dismiss. Actually [...]

Quitting the Causes of your Suffering.

We cause our own suffering, unwittingly. Most people do not see the connection between their own behaviour and their unhappiness. The behaviours I speak of here include gossiping, complaining, fault-finding, scapegoating another, forming a clique that excludes others, feeling that you know how another should act, feeling superior, needing to be right all the time, [...]

Spiritual awakening is the purpose of life.

It is what we are here for. It is about coming to know our True Nature. It's a strange thing that we have somehow become blind to our own True Natures, but this is precisely what happens to us humans. I do not know why this happens but I do know how. Since what we are talking about here is our True Nature, it is always present, it has never left us, and it is inevitable that one day we will all return to this True Nature. You cannot not be your True Nature. I have seen it written that this is God's great game of hide and seek, that we willing enter into as children. We do this by creating what is often called 'ego' in spritual literature.

We could say that human life is about playing this game. The problem is that after some time many people become unhappy. The game becomes too much. We forget about our True Nature and feel empty and lost. Truly, all unhappiness is caused by a longing to return to our True Nature. We become tired of the game. 'Stop the world and let me off' was a phrase that was around when I was young. It expresses well what many of us come to feel along the way.

This is when the spiritual search begins.
Throughout all time and in all cultures there have been people in the world who have returned to their True Nature. There are many words used to describe someone who has come to the end of playing the game of ego. They are known as; enlightened ones, awakened, Zen master, Buddha, Christlike, saint, and many more. All refer to the state where one has returned to their True Nature. They are no longer lost in the game of ego.

Some awakened ones have also been good teachers and have been able to leave teachings to help the rest of us find our way back to our True Nature. Many others have lived quietly without making any public impact. Awakening to our True Nature is the natural condition of the human. It is the state of being fully mature. It may not be the usual condition because current cultures tend to impede the full maturation of humans. Current cultures are ego based and ego enhancing. Nevertheless, there are many people who are questioning the purpose of it all and finding the way back to their True Nature. In fact, right now the Western world is undergoing an unprecedented wave of Awakenings-thanks to the dissemination of information on the internet.

This site is about offering some crumbs at the table of Returning to our True Nature. It's about spiritual development, which is synonymous with dissolution of the ego. There are links to sites which have helped me on my path.
