“A Change of Heart”
There’s a whisper in the wind…
Can you hear it calling?
Can you make out what it’s saying?
There’s a scent on the wind….
Wafting as from another time and place,
Stirring faint memory of something long ago.
There’s a feeling in the air…
Of a lost Eden,
Of our original home
Before time drew us
Into its attractive, maddening seeming.
We long to go back,
To return to perfection,
But who knows the way?
It requires a change of heart.
We’ve been living a great lie.
We gradually discard its props,
The make-believe personality
With its prides and fears that rise
Along with the separation anxiety.
The distinction between self and others
Sharpens as the perceived differences wane.
The connection to our source strengthens
As the self diminishes.
O Love, we cry, where are you hiding?
And in the mist of miracle
We find ourselves back home,
Awake from the dream of separation.
